Demise of this blog
I've all but decided to terminate this blog. At the outset I thought it could be a useful way of running a writing group because of the interactive possibilities of blog technology. But it really hasn't worked out that way. I'm about to leave forItaly and will be away for a month. After that if I haven't heard any shrieks of protest I'll quietly put the whole idea to sleep. Using a blog for reading and critiquing one another's work sounded like an interesting possibility, but was an idea before it's time perhaps. Strangely I've found a similar reluctance to discuss writing or do much reading and critiquing of one anothers work in groups which meet in person. I thought online might be easier because out in the cyberworld reticence is less likely to inhibit ones interactions. In the mean time, ciao ciao everyone.. Barbara

It will be sad to see this blog go. I had wished to spend a lot more time on writing this year but as you know, my circumstances changed somewhat when my daughter was diagnosed with ASD. I hope you have a great time in Italy and perhaps we will all pull together and put a little more effort in. I'm going to make it my task this weekend to catch up with everyone's postings.
You can't let it go Barbara. We really love it. Maybe we should work out how to make it more so that we post things on this blog and comment on each more or something.
let's have a coffee and talk about it!
have you gone to Italy now?

:)
I have spent a wonderful morning, coffee in hand, catching up on everyone's blog. I was duly impressed. Sue, your CV blew me away. Barbara, I loved the rich characters of your stories. Suzanne, your reflections are always thought provoking. Alison and Kate, your poetry is simple and beautiful. And Kathryn, I always love looking into the lives of other people. Barbara, I think this blog is definitely worth keeping.
I also hope you can keep it going - maybe we could all help by sharing the load around a little. I have to admit that I keep promising I will spend more time looking at others work and then don't. I guess we all have a month to decide to act rather than promise to act :-)
I also think things are finally starting to settle down after changing both my job and country.
Hello all .. a chorus of adoration from all! (I've been looking at Adoration from all angles lately, Florence being the heart of the Italian Renaissance). I'm certainly not going to advocate we get rid of the Writer's Blog if we all think it will work, I guess I just felt it had lost its momentum and that maybe someone would start up the whole idea in a few years and it would work then. I'm back in December so maybe by then we can work out a new approach. Posting to the blog is open to anyone, I can email the username and password separately if you all think you'd like to add your voices. In the meantime, Italy is fun.. but high decibel! I have a travel blog (of course) - it's

I've been reading Barbara's travel blogs and I have found myself absolutely engrossed. I highly recommend everyone to read them.
I would vote for you to keep it going, Barbara, it's such a great thing to have a venue for sharing writing and giving/receiving feedback. Not that I've been a participant this year, having had a less than gratifying time health-wise. But I'm willing to try to get more involved instead of being a lurker!!
I have stumbled into this blog as I rambled about the net this morning.
I hope you do not terminate such a blog. The idea of a writing group is excellent and a great way to stimulate writing and positive feedback.
I have been part of another writing/poetry group at another blog site, and it was excellent.
I have not read anything at your site other than this "Demise" post....but the positive nature of the comments shows you have much support.
For what it's worth (as a total unknown to your site) you have my support as well. I would enjoy contributing and commenting constructively....if you decide to continue.
Enjoy your way...
Dear Wordy.. how strangely like Frieda you've begun to look.. thanks for comments, will keep it aloft and see what happens; and Quix.. please join in if you would like to, it's open to anyone who wants to do more talking about and ACTUAL writing, Barbara
Oh that's sad, I just found you. I was looking for good writers blogs in Australia and you've gone. If you ever come back, pop over to my place. You'll find a thriving community of just the sort you were trying to create here. Hello,
